According to PMI, pretest questions do not affect the final score. They are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate approach for testing the validity of future exam issues.

“The PMP examination is comprised of 180 questions. Of the 180 questions, 5 are considered pretest questions. The PMP review used to have a single response to multiple-choice questions before 2021, but the PMI has added another three types of questions after 2 January 2023:

• Multiple choice with multiple responses
• Fill in the blanks
• Answer selection

I suggest you take more than 70% or 126 questions out of 180 if you want to take the test. In addition, PMI moved the examination to the new content outline in January 2021, including Agile and Adoptive Project Management methods. The candidates complain about the difficulty of the test. I believe that either the score or the level of difficulty could have increased.

Don't be distracted from the preliminary questions, too. It would help if you correctly answered more than 126 questions because you cannot distinguish the initial questions from the real ones. Thus, all 180 questions should be considered scorable.
